how Possibly the best Nokia N8 shot stop animation yet?
The Nokia N8 is still the best camera phone on the market regardless of what anyone says, so if you were making a stop animation movie that involved the use of a camera phone, which one would you choose? The Nokia N8, of course.
The 12 megapixel Nokia N8 has again be used for an epic stop movie animation, this time it’s the epicentre of the animation, Gulp. It was filmed over an amazing 11,000 square foot area on the Pendine Beach in South Wales.
Gulp was created by Sumo Science of Aardman animators who are the same people that brought us the worlds smallest animated film set, Dot. We wrote an article about this some time ago and yes, it was very awesome and well, very small. This time however, it’s bigger, better and even more inventive, truly a marvel in stop animation – eat your hearts out Gromit and Wallace!
For the animation Gulp it’s shot with several Nokia N8′s which were attached to a crane that was suspended over the seaside in Wales. There is a story to this short movie as it captures the day in a life of a fisherman, he goes on his quest in search of fish, unsurprisingly. To enable you to begin to imagine the scale of this ‘movie’, it’s a good idea to know that the fisherman that is involved is a real life actor, and yes, you guessed it, the boat is a life sized boat.
The efforts of the directors, animators and sand artists really need to be acknowledged and applauded, it was brought together seamlessly and in amazing fashion. Yet again the Nokia N8 shows why it’s such as great phone or at least in terms of being an awesome camera phone.
